The leading vernacular newspapers support Japan's approval of the naval proposals by hailing the Anglo-French naval compromise as wise statesmanship, leading to the adjustment of the differences of international viewpoints in the Preparatory Conference of the Powers, in which an honest endeavour will be made to relieve the burden of armaments and to retrieve the failure of tha last Geneva Conference. Surprise is expressed at America's distrust, which is described aa an unintelligible view of the anti-war propoeala.
