Ramson'a Great Goal.

The Wellington forwards, led by Porter and Sly, with Coulston, Blacker and Shearer well up, commenced to attack, h«t a determined resistance sent them hack. Returning after a short spell, Remson, for illegal tactics in the scram, had a shot at goal from 10yds inside the half-way line. The hall passed just outside the posts. Within a few minutes Q. Donald was caught offside in front of the goal, and Ram son had another try at goal, this time from a yard inside the half-way line. He landed a beautiful goal.

Wellington ..w............. 3 Wairarapa 0 Wairarapa livened up and drove Wellington back to their twenty-five after pretty work by Sharpe and Cooke. The latter centred and recovered. Mackay tackled him, and Ramson speculated, finding the corner. Porter received from the line-out, and relieved with a line kick to the twenty-five. Wairarapa returned to the attack, and Hart opened np two promising efforts, but the defence was too solid, and both were •topped. Another Wairarapa rush looked very dangerous until Cuming took a timely mark and relieved. Coman gave a clever dummy and ran down the lise, passing to Mackay. The latter ran brilliantly until Yates upset him. Shortly after Porter was illegally tackled by Q. Donald, midway between the half and the twenty-five. Ramson made a good effort, but missed.

Later Coman sent Mackenzie, Brown sad Porter sway, and the latter crossed, only to be brought back by the line umpire. Cook was tackled without the hsll, and Yates scored with a fine kick from 10yds inside the half-way line, making the score equal:—

Second SpelL

After the interval Wairarapa held the aacandancy nearly all through, except for sudden forays, which were very dangerous while they lasted. There was spectacular play by both sides, especially by the Wellington forwards, and had the latter been backed up the result might have been different. Tackling all round was very deadly. Wellington accepted four forces and Wairarapa one. Well on towards the end of the game Stringfellow sent a high ball to Cuming. Cuming passed wildly to Mackay, who was tackled by Hart as he kicked. The ball went out near the Wellington corner. Coman relieved with a good line kick, but' Wairarapa returned, and Cooke essayed a cut-in to the goal, but was grounded. Chaney shot the ball back to Sharpe, who punted. Stringfellow gathered and passed to Cooke, and the latter to Yates, who was floored at the corner by Peterson, Porter sending the hall into toueh. Sharpe and Cooke were again associated in an effort. Q. Donald then dived- through the ruck and scored. Yates took the kick, but missed.
