THEFTS FROM LAUNCHES
TWO SUSPECTS ARRESTED.
STOLEN PROPERTY RECOVERED. REMAND AT POLICE COURT. During the past few months Detective : Sergeant McHugh has been carefully inIvestigating a series of thefts from launches and sailing boats in the harbour. Yesterday afternoon in company with Detective-Sergeant Dovle he arrested two men, Huia Keith Allan (22) and William Joseph Whyte (30) on a charge of stealing a shot gun, field glasses, and stainless knives, valued at £11, the property of Athol Henry Dixon. On the application of Chief-Detective Hammond, who said that a good deal of property which is alleged to have been stolen had been recovered, both men were remanded until August 27.
