PORK EXPORT.
GOVERNMENT POLICY. Speaking at Wanganni last evening the Prime Minister, the Hon. J. G. Coates spoke in justification of the Government subsidy to the pork export industry. Last year, ho said, the pork industry might have fallen to the ground, but instead it was now an industry to which the farmers were looking forward with keenness and a certain amount of confidence. "I,\ !>v n c.n-tain measure of Government s> ni)juth>." suid the Prime Minister. "we fail get these industries on their feet, they will not need that assistance in a few years' time. If, through the pork industry, we can increase the money coming into New Zealand by £5,000,000, we will be satisfied, but we have only made a beginning with scientific research, which is xcting as the basis of intelligent production and manufacture in our country,"
