HAMILTON STOCK SALE.
BEEF PRICES HIGHER. FAT SHEEP IN KEEN DEMAND. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Ltd., report:— At Frankton yesterday we had a fair entry of ox and cow beef. Prices were ■gain firm, with a rise of 25/ to 30/ per head on the previous week's rates. There was again a good entry of bobby calves, which met with competition, prices ranging from 8/ to 16/. We had a small entry of prime fat sheep, for which there was strong competition. There was a good entry of both fat and store pigs. Prices were slightly easier for baconers, while there was a firm market for porkers and good stores. Quotations: — Beef.—Choice prime ox sold up to 46/ per 1001b; choice cow and heifer, up to 42/; medium quality cows, up to 37/; mediumweight bullocks, £15 11/ to £16 11/; small, light steers, £10 5/ to £10 11/; fat heifers, £12 2/; prime fat cows, £12/ to £12 17/6; medium quality cows, £8 1/ to £9 2/6; plain and unfinished, £7 1/ to £8; good store cows, £5 to £3 11/; others, £3 1/ to £4; cull cows, £2 16/. Sheep.—Extra prime heavy fat ewes, 38/3 to 40/; fat wethers, 41/; extra prime hoggets, 37/; fat 28/2 to 30/1; small store hoggets, 19/6; aged ewes, in lamb, 24/9. Pigs.—Best baconers, £3 7/ to £3 10/; light baconers, £2 19/ to £3 5/; good porkers, £2 10/ to £2 16/; slips, 23/6 to 25/; weaners, 7/ to 16/6. KEEN DEMAND FOR BEEF. PIGS FIRM AT LATE RATES. Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having held their usual weekly stock sale at the Frankton saleyards on Tuesday as under:—There was a small yarding of beef, including some uice drafts of prime quality. The demand was very keen and values were higher than last week. Choice ox sold at equal to 46/ per hundred; best bullocks making up to £20 5/, which we sold on account of Mr. E. W. F.. Leslie, of Lichfield. Prime cows on account of the same vendor sold at up to £14 17/6. On account of a client we sold 16 heavy cows at an average of £12 4/ per head; light and inferior cows and heifers sold at similar rates; best runners made up to £6 18/. Only a few pens of store cattle were yarded. We sold a pen of store good-framed cows at £5 7/6: also a pen at £5 5/; a pen of yearling Jersey heifers, £4 10/; rough heifers at £2 17/ to £3 10/; yearling bulls, £2 10/ to £4 2/6. There was a small yarding of sheep. Extra choice fat ewes made up to 38/0; fat ewes. 33/ to 36/6: inferior fat ewes, 31/6 tp 28/6; fat woolly hoggets, to 34/; small ditto. 24/: store ewes, 24/. Pigs were penned in average numbers and were firm at late rates. Light baconers and porkers advanced slightly. We quote: Light baconers, £2 lfl/3 to £3 .V; porkers. £2 5/ to £2 12/6; stores. £1 to 37/0; weaners. 7/ to 15/.
