There was a very | !arge attendance, and the ceremony concluded with Solemn Benediction of the I Blessed Sacrament. in the absencc j through illness of Dr. W. H. C'eary. Bishop of Auckland, Monsignor Cafc.il! extended a welcome, which was j responded to by Bishop Heylcn. of I Namur, president of the congress, and Bishop Dteschamps. of Montreal. His lordship, Dr. Heyien. was on the throne, and celebrated Benediction, being 1 assisted by le Prince de Croy and MAssignor Nunlist. Bishop Heyien. contrary to expectations, did not wear his many decorations, as he had left them in Belgium. This venerable prelate is a Commander of the Order of Leopold, of the Belgian order Grande Cordon of Leopold 11., and the French Croix de Guerre, and an officer of the Lion of Congo, and a Commander of the British Empire. The last named decoration was bestowed by the King, and handed to the Bishop by the British Ambassador to Belgium, at Brussels, shortly after the Great War, in recognition of Bishop Heylen's work done during the war. particularly during the German siege of Namur. He is also an assistant to the Pontifical Throne at Rome. Yesterday afternoon the visiting delegates found time to visit a number of the Catholic institutions in Auckland, and they also visited Bishop Cleary. They spent to-day in seeing the sights of Auckland. Bishop Heyien, Comte D'Yanville, and le Priiice de Croy left for Sydney by the Niagara to-day, and the remaining members of the delegation will leave for Rotorua to-morrow morning. After an extended tour of the North Island they will join the Ulimaroa at Wellington for Sydney.
