CYCLING.

MANUKAU ROAD RACE. DWIGHT AND PRIOR SHIXE. In perfect weather, the Manukau Amateur Cycling Club and the Auckland Athletic and Cycling Clubs held their weekly road race to Mangere on Saturday. The two outstanding features Of the racing were the performances of H. Dwiglit in the aniateurs'and F. Prior in the professionals, the former establishing a record for the Papakura and back race, beating the previous best time by and Prior putting up a record for the 20-mile unpaced event, doing the distance in 50m 26 3-ss. There were several falls during the afternoon, but none was of a serious nature. The resiilts are as follows:—

Manukau Amateur Club. —S. Kay. 9m, 1: G. P. Clarke. Bm, 2; G. Harris. Bm. 3. Winner's time. 69.33. Fastest time and record. Dwight, 64.20. Auckland Athletic and Cycling Club's 20-mile time trial and sealed handicap.— Time trial: F. Prior, 30m. 26 3-ss. 1; S. Hayes. 51m 7 3-ss, 2; W. Francis, 52m 28 2-ss, 3; D. Strong, 52m 275, 4. Sealed handicap results: W. Francis, 3m, 1; J. Henderson. Sim. 2; K. Uae, 3jm, 3; F. Prior, scratch, 4. There were 36 starters in this event, which was won comfortably by Kay by three lengths. The race was responsible for some good pacing by both middle and back-markers, but the limit riders were never seriously troubled. Bunching early, they made every post a winning one, thanks to the splendid pacing efforts of G. Russell, L. Aldred and C. Harris, and won with something to spare. The winner finished brilliantly, clearing right away from the rest of the field over the last hundred yards. H. Dwight, who won fastest time, finished very strongly, beating .1. Whitten, his co-marker, by three lengths for the coveted honour. F.* Casey, who finished close up, won J. C. Stewart's medal for averaging over 22 miles in the D class riders.
