(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) MASTERTON, Friday. YVhen the housekeeper for Donald Smith, aged 27. manager of Mr. Vivian Kiddiford's Tablelands station at Martinborough, went to hi.- office this morning to call him for breakfast, she heard the report of a fireaiiu. She entered the room to find Smith on the floor with a wonnd in his head. He was dead when a doctor arrived. CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. The dead body of Alexander Stockdale, aged about 50, a farmer, of Highbank, near Methven, was found on his farm early this morning. There was a severe gunshot wound in the head.- A doublebarrelled shotgun lay alongside the body with one barrel discharged. Stockdale leaves a wife and an adult familv.
