WAIRARAPA BEATEN BY A POINT,

LAST MINUTE VICTORY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) IXVIORCA RG11„ L. Saturday. Wairarapa, who won the Itanfurly Shield on Wednesday from Canterbury, were beaten by Southland to-day by one poiat. Fast and exciting play characterised the opening stages, Diack narrow'.y missing a shot at goal. The visitors threatened danger, but good defensive work broke a movement up. Wairarapa maintained the offensive and Cundy kicked a goal from a penalty. 3—o. Brisk play followed. Bird breaking clean through and passing to Geddes, who raced through unopposed, but was called back for a forward pass. Excellent passing resulted in Howden crossing the line, but the kick failed. 3—3. St ringfellow got within inches of scoring, but was brought down. Play became patchy. Bell made a lightning dash for tha line, and threw the ball to llowden, who scored near Ihe posts. Diack missed an easy kick. (s—^3.
