DAIRY FARMERS' WANTS.
ABOLITION OF MOTOR FEES. PURE SEEDS LEGISLATION. illy Trlpgraph—Press Association.) PALMEKSTON X. Thursday. At the annual conference of the Dnirv Farmers' Union to-day a. remit was passed urging the Government to bring down a pure, seeds hill, or, as an alternate o, to make it compulsory for merchants to sell under a guarantee jjermination test. Considerable discussion ensued on the motor regulations. It was decided to ask the Government to abolish the £2 annual license fee and the practice of renewing number plates each year, which was considered a waste of nionev. A protest was also made against the continual alteration of the motor regulations. Some delegates said they considered it would be more equitable to pay an increased petrol tax than an additional license fee as the liters of the roads would then pay for them. The compulsory dehorning of all cattle over two years old was favoured. The. election of officers resulted in the return of Mr. X. Campbell, of Kauwhata. as president. Delegates from the Farmers' Union waited on the conference urging that tne Dairy Farmers' Union should federate with their body. The conference favoured federation providing their union did not lose its identity. Representatives were appointed to meet the Dominion executive of the. Farmers' C n ion in Wellington to conclude matters.
