BRIGHT PROSPECTS.
NEW DAIRYING SEASON. KEEN DEMAND FOR CHEESE. BUTTER PRICES GOOD. GREATER PRODUCTION LIKELY. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. According to a gentleman who is It-loaely associated with big dairy interests, the prospects of dairy farmers for the coming season are very bright. Canadian cheese production, he sa,. s, is down approximately 10 per cent, compared with last year. Already Tooley Street buyers are active in the South Island, and a number of factories have already sold their August to December production at prices varying from 9£d to 9M f.0.b., and further offers have recently been made for August - September production at lOd f.o.b. The prospects for butter also he considers are exceedingly good. AugustSeptember production, consigned to "London, will probably return 1/0| to 1/7, f.o.b. The average price for the season will depend entirely upon Australian production. Canadian buyers are paving] 1/4} f.o.b. for October to March ship-: ments, which price is equivalent to 173/, London, on a consignment basis. The outlook for both butter and cheese for the coming season, the "Star's" informant adds, is unquestionably excellent as regards priced, and with a" normal season production should show an expansion of from 10 to 15 per cent, so that the dairy industry and the country generally may look forward to the coming season with confidence.
