WAIHI RETURN.

WAIHI, thin day

The following information hag been cabled to London:—For the period ending June 30, comprising 22 crushing days, 18,107 tons of ore were crushed for a result of 6483 fine ounces of gold and 13,095 fine ounces of silver. This includes 2462 tons mined from the Grand Junction area, which yielded 742 ounces of gold and 30/0 ounces of silver.

No. 9 level, south branch of Dreadnought lode, driving east, the' next 30ft assays 20/6 per ton. The width of the lode varies from 2ft to sft. No. 10 level, south branch of Dreadnought lode, driving east, the next 23ft assays 28/9 per ton. The lode is about 3ft wide.. The drive Crossed the boundary at 358 ft. The Dominion lode at 150 ft west junctions with a calcite lode Bft wide cotning in from the north diagonally, which has cut off the value. Driving is suspended, ahd preparations are being made to commence stoping. No. 14 level, driving east on the Martha lode, the next 25ft assays 4/3 per ton.

No. 4 diamond drill hole ia down 291 ft, Boring is very difficult.

RISING SUN G.M. COMPANY.

The directors of the Rising Sun Gold Mining Company have issued a circular to shareholders stating that active *rdrk was resumed in the mine on 9, and, .with the exception of about another couple of weeks' work in the stopes. everything is in good order.. An air lift system has been installed to unwater the mine below No. 3 level. It has been decided o proceed with •inking two winzes on No. 3 reef. The drive is being extended on both ends preparatory to opening out agd sinking on the stone. In each face the reef is about t*o feet In width, and shows free gold. In the crosscut from the main level to cut No. 1 and No. 3 reefs, about 500 feet south of the present workings has been extended 10 feet. Should these reefs be proved to exist and maintain their Bize, it should add 25,000 to 30,000 tons of ore to the reserves. The mine managers' report shows over 3000 tons of ore developed of an estimated value of £40,000. and the estimated quantity of ore partially developed, is over 10.000 tons. Repairs to the battery plant will be completed this month. Mr. R. K, Cowles has been appointed manager of the battery, and crushing will be started when the stones are in a position to supply the requisite tonnage of ore. The directors state that the -Government has granted a subsidy of £500 to tewt the low levels, of which £250 is on a £ for £ basis for unwatering. The balance is for crosscutting and ' driving. Arrangements Are. in progress to make this battery a public crushing plant if the Government will make a grant or loan to bring it up-to-date.

MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS.

MaoriJand.—The manager reports that the drive on the reef in N<k 4 level ia bow in 90ft, and approximately 200 tons of ore paddock ed ready for treatment. - Mahakipawa.—The chaitman of directors of the Mahakipawa Co., Nelson, stated to a Press representative at Nelson regarding the delay in having the cleaning up, "We expect that it will be about three weeks before the cages and track* are ready to be brought from Aueklaild. After their arrival at the mine it Will take about a week to get everything ready and into working order, and the wash will take place after ttat,"- .
