HOSPITAL MAINTENANCE.
OTEW SYSTEM MIGHT COST BOROUGHS MORE. MORRINSVILLE SATISFIED. (From Our Own Correspondent) MORRIN SVILLE, Friday. The Morrinsville Borough Council decided last evening to take no actiou in the proposal to bring concerted pressure to bear on the Government to have the system of local bodies contributing towards the upkeep of public hospitals revised. Mr. Reason said the Finance Committee, which had considered the matter, had no quarrel with the present board, and was satisfied with the management. 3lr. Chapman pointed out that local bodies everywhere were dissatisfied with the high cost of administration. The Mayor (Air. W. McPherson) considered the position would be more equitable if an amendment were made in the system. A good deal of opposition came from county councils, which complainde of their hgili levy in comparison with borough councils. However, he would not like t osee a complete change in the present system, as it might result in boroughs being asked to contribute more than they did now.
