CONVOCATION'S RESOLUTION. (British Official Wireless.) (Received 12 noon.) RUGBY, July 11. The Upper House of the Convocation day placed on record the deep sense of loss it would suffer in the approaching retirement of the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Davidson, who is 80 years of aso and has presided over the Convocation for 23 years. CHURCH'S TEACHING. STATEMENT BY BISHOPS. (Australian Press Assn.—T'nited Service.) (Received 12 noon.) LONDON, July 1). The Upper House of the Covocation of Canterbury by IS votes to three ; on the motion of the Bishop of Gloucester, agreed that a committee of bishops be appointed to draft a statement on the teaching of the Church of England upon the doctrine of the Eucharist. The Bishop of Oxford seconded. The Bishop of Norwich opposed the measure, urging that it was unwise at a time of bitter controversy to start discussions on holy mysteries. The Primate, the Archbishop of Canterbury, urged that the bishops of the Northern Province should be urged to join the committee, which was agreed to.
