The fbvst Wireless telephone conversation between Vancouver (8.C.) and London, a distance of some 7000 miles, took place recently. The call is said. to. be the longest telephone conversation ever made within the British Empire. In 1918 the length, of the day changed suddenly . from one 650 th of a second longer to one 540 th of a second shorter than the average, a shortening of one 25 millionth of its length. About a 20th of the whole number of electrize lamps manufactured in the wOrld are used in England. In all the world about 600 million lamps were iftade last year.
