THAMES COUNTY AFFAIRS.

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)

THAMES, Tuesday,

The Thames . County Council decided to-day that its clerk should report oh the advisability of rescinding the by-laws limiting speeds to 15 and 25 miles an hour. One member said the by-laws were completely ignored.

The council decided to join other local bodies throughout the Dominion in urging the Government to revise the system of local body representation on hospital boards and the system of hospital management.

A letter signed by thirteen ratepayers, mostly from Parawai, was read, requesting the council to hesitate before cancelling a bond'entered into by the Kauri Timber Company in respect to a floating license for the Kauaeranga River. The council was sympathetic and decided to forward a copy of the petition to the Thames Borough Council and the Commissioner of Crown Lands.
