CAR CRASHES INTO SHOP.

I'KONT OCT OF ALIGNMENT;
a two-seater motor car containing two men and two women, and,ciriveft Jj|y V. llarkens, of Parkdale Road, Mount Albert, crashed into a, fruit Shop belonging to Jlr. c. Horscroft, a/ tlie. corner of Trafalgar Street and ,»<3uadrant Road. Onehnnga, last ttigh# The accident happened about a (jimrer to 12 o'clock, when the car was proceeding down Auckland Road towards Onohunga.
Mr. Harkens stated afterwards that he was turning into Trafalgar Street when liis car. Skidded and crashed into tiie >liop at the corner on ttle south side of the. street. The car caught the double doors at the corner and threw one of them into the shop. Then it smashed the plate glass window facin" Quad runt Road. The impact was so severe that it throw the whole shop front out of alignment.
Constable W. A. Rathio was on dutv at tlio corner, and was just in the act of trying the shop door to see if it was properly secured, when he was caught by tlie motor ear and sent spinning°on to tin' road. He received a great shock, and his right hand was injured. The motor car belongs to Messrs. Alder and Co., of Ponsonby Road, Auckland. It, escaped with slight damage to the mudguard and to the benzine tank. The shop windows are insured.
