OLYMPIC OPENING.
QUEEN CANNOT ATTEND. (Australian Press A s>n. —United Service.) (Received 1 p.m.) AMSTERDAM, May 27. Following upon a report that Queen Wilhelmina will not open the Olympic Gaines at Amsterdam, a sensation was caused by a report in the "Amsterdam Telegraph" that the Burgomaster would be away from the capital on holiday during the main part of the programme.
The significance of this lay in the fact that the Burgomaster is a strict Sabbatarian, in consequence of which Amsterdam is one of the few cities ia Holland where public dances are forbidden on .Sundays.
The Burgomaster, however, denies that he will be absent during the Olympic Games.
