TRAFFIC AT THE MARKETS.
As an occasional visitor to the City Markets T realise the difficulties that confront the traffic department in endeavouring to bring the traffic under anything approaching proper control in this congested area. The actual width of. the street opposite the landing places is approximately fifty feet from kerb to kerb. Quite a third of this space is occupied by lorries with loads of fruit and produce for discharge, while <>n the opposite side of the street numerous vehicles are parked awaiting their opportunity of approaching the landing places, and many mure continue to arrive. Added to this confusion are the huge lorries of a well-known carrying firm whose premises are immediately opposite, which, with loads of sand and gravely claim a share of the all-too-limited space.
