AUCKLAND CLUB'S VISIT.
PROGRAMME AT MANGERE.
At tlie invitation of Mr. T. Scown, the Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club journeyed to Mangere on Saturday, when a run of three miles over real cross-country was taken on by the athletes. During the afternoon Mr. Morton, the president of the club, took the opportunity of presenting to Mi. Scown a cup won by him in a shotputting event last season, while his son also received a cup for winning the Jubilee Cup. The sprint race was a good one up to about 60yds, where Butler came through and went on to win very easily. Butler is a new runner to the club and has not been unplaced in a heat yet run this season. In the steeplechase J. Crum took the lead with about three-quarters of a mile to go and although Savidan, the scratch man, made up ground very well he had no chance of catching Crum in the run home, the latter winning by 10yds, with Henshall 18yds away third. J. Crum is a newcomer to the ranks of athletes and judging by the form he has been showing should soon be well back in the handicaps. The following are the results:— 7.1 YARDS HANDICAP.
