Tho Duchess of York has succeeded in focussing the attention of sportswomen mi motor boating as a tlirill and an amusement by presenting a trophy for outboard motor boat racing in England. Miss Violet Corderv, who visited Melbourne last April, in the course of her ml venturous motor tour of the world, lias just bought a motor boat, and ini "iids trying her skill in this new direction. Miss C'arstairs, an Englishwoman, who already has a reputation for daring motor boat racing, actually proposes to rross the Atlantic in her boat. No special skill id required for the handling of this craft. Indeed, it is easier to manoeuvre than a car. The sport is not an expensive one. It is said that a motor boat is not more costly to maintain than a medium-sized car.
