HOSPITAL BOARD SUBSIDY.
KEtJIEST MADE TO MINISTER. (liy Telegraph.—Press Association.) I'ALMEKSTON N., this day. 'J ho Minister of tieaith, the Hon. J. A. who visited i'almerston North to-day lor the purpose of opening a maternity home at the hospital, was met by a deputation from the Hospital Hoard, and asked lor a refund oi the subsidy which the board this year had been called mi to make to the Department. The amount was £1000. Jt was stated that in the lirst year of operation the refund reduced the rate of the hoard's subsidy to I'A/, one shilling under the lowest subsidy • receivable under the schedule. In reply, Mr. Young said that if it were found that the subsidy principle could not be worked satisfactorily he was prepared to ask the Government for legislation, so that no board would receive less' than 14/.
