SHEEP DOG TRIALS.
(From Our Own Cor respondent.) IE KUITI, tliis <lay. The King Country eonirai Collie Club held its eieve.nt.il annual sheep dog trials on Aid. F. Coatcs' farm during three days ol unfavourable weather. Conditions were thus unpleasant lor competitors and spectators alike, but the meeting was in every other way a pronounced success. Credit for this is due to au enthusiastic committee. .under the direction of Mr. E. W. Larsen (president) and Mr. D. Xeal (secretary). The entries for the various events were larger than for many years. The lieading competition established a record, there being 41 dogs entered. A pieasing feature of the gathering was tlie number of outside dogs competing. The judge wus Mr. James Mills of Rangiriri. Results:--Class 1.. heading, points .">1. —S. Voyee's Maid, 4l> ; I>. Class IV., short head, maximum points 52. —J. Duniphy's Ben, 42; J. Edwin's Jed, ~>l ; !•'. King's Mac, 48; G. Julian's Tweed, 4 t. A challenge cup presented by Mr. E. Ryan was won by 8. Voyee's Maid ; cup presented by Mis. McDowell, by S. Voyee's Maid ; a rose bowl presented by Sir. L. Verry. by K. Staple's Jock; a tea set presented by Mr. A. Duncan (best brace), by Mr. H. Voyee's Rock and Tweed; a cup presented by Messrs. Green and Colebrook, by Mr. E W. I.arsen's Jack; a medal presented by Mr. N'eal. by Mr. E. Old; a medal presented by Mr. J. C. Rolleston.
