Hennessy (United States) defeated Gordon Lum (China), 6- —3, 6 -1, 6 —o in the first singles match in the Davis Cup contest between China and the United States. Lott (U.SJL) defeated N. G. Kong (China), 6—o, 6—o, 6—o. MONTREAL, May 25. Canada took the first singles match in the Japan-Canada second round preliminary in the American zone of the Davis Cup contest. William F. Crocker defeated Toba, captain of the Japanese team, 6—o, 6—2, 4 —6, 6 —3. DENMARK v. AUSTRIA. DANES WIN DOUBLES. (Australian Press Assn. —United Service.) (Received 10.30 a.m.) COPENHAGEN, May 25. In the Dayis Cup second round Glrich and Henrichsen (Denmark) defeated Salm and Artens (Austria), 7 —5, 6 —o, 11—9.
