FLAG FIGHT.
ITALY INSULTED. Bitter Feeling In Austrian Tyrol. WHAT WILL MUSSOLINI DO ? (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) VIENNA, May 25. A sensation was caused at Innsbruck, In the Austrian Tyrol, by two students who tore down the Italian flag, which had been hoisted on the Italian Consulate to celebrate the anniversary of Italy's entry into the war. The town is seething with excitement,, and people are wondering if the Italian Prime Minister, Signor Mussolini, will carry out his expressed threat that j "Next time we will answer Austrian attacks with deeds, not words."
The consul immediately demanded that the flag be rehoisted with military honours. The Mayor agreed, but the populace was only excited \to fresh a nti-Italian demonstrations, and renewed disturbances occurred. Late in the evening the police charged the crowd with batons, and
20 persons were injured and many were arrested. The consul at 8 p.m. ordered the flag to be finally lowered.
