MORRINSVILLE NEWS.
The Morrinsville Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor (Mr. W. McPhereon) presiding.
The District Public Trustee advised that the Public Trustee had now accepted the office of Sinking Fund Commissioner in respect of the outer area sewerage loan of £500 (part of £1000 loan).
A favourable report 011 the susrg&stion to replace the fence cu the Methodist Church property at the corner of Canada and 7 hainecs Streets with a rockery, was laid before the council by the Works Committee. The cost of the rqeks would be £5, and the committee recommended that these be supplied 011 the conditions suggested by the Methodist Church. The reconimeudation was adopted.
It v.as agreed to close portion of the football grounds for two playing Saturdays. The engineer expressed the opinion that if the ground was played on in its piesent state it might be seriously damaged.
The following standing committees were appointed:—Workis committee, Councillors Chapman. Martin and Donald; finance committee. Councillors MOl- - Osborne and Reason; library committee, Crs. Reason and Donald; cemetery committee. -Mayor and Deputy-Mayor (Cr. Chapman); baths committee, Crs. Cliapman. Morriec and Reason; band committee Crs. Osborne, Reason, Morrice and Mai tin, tire brigade, (Jr. Chapman; reserves committee, Crs. Chapman, Morrice and Martin.
