MAID'S REVENGE.
DOUBLE MURDERESS. GIRL AT THE AGE OF 15. After the most remarkable trial in the history of Ireland, Mary Cole (15%) was found "guilty" in Dublin Central Criminal Court of trie muriler of two children, Philomena Flynn (2) and Maureen Flynn (8), the children of her employer, Mr. Michael Flynn, a school teacher, of Camross, Leix, Queen's County. By reason of her age, she escaped the death _ penalty, and because of the nature of this indictment, minor charges of maliciously setting fire to furniture, etc., were not proceeded with. It was revealed that with ruthless cunning she drowned the children at different times, because her mistress had reprimanded her for carrying on with boys. She confessed that she stole away from the house after the family were in bed and spent the night with a boy. In his final address to the jury, Mr. Carrigan, prosecuting, said: "This phenomenal juvenile criminal, untaught and without experience, presents to you the case of a girl who looks a woman in appearance, and has a mind more powerful and an imagination more agile than_ any of you could come across in the experience of a lifetime. . "The jury would have noticed that she gave her evidence with a cleverness and coolness that was phenomenal and unnatural, and, with little or no education, without having even perhaps seen a cinema Bhow, faced a long cross-examination with almost miraculous equanimity. They were dealing with a case of juvenile monstrosity. She had acted with supernatural cleverness and ingenuity."
