MEETING OF INSTITUTE.
MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS
AUCKLAND ANNUAL GATHERING.
Reviewing the work of the Real Estate Institute of Auckland during the past year, Mr. G. J. Crump, president, at the annual meeting last evening, said the institute had grown considerably and was now an independent body. The question they had to consider now was whether they should admit anyone to membership who had not passed the examination set by the New Zealand Institute. The Wellington Institute had "taken the bull by the horns," and no one could now gain admittance to membership who had not passed the examination.
There was a large attendance of members and the report and balancesheet were adopted. It was decided that it be a recommendation to the committee that the matter should be brought up at the next annual meeting. It was also decided to recommend the New Zealand Institute to consider the question of unregistered land salesmen, with a view to legislative action.
Officers were elected as follows:— President, Mr. W. J. Potter; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. T. Mclndoe and H. L. C. Mowbray; committee, Messrs. P. Balgarnie, S. E. Bennett, A. W. Clark, H K. Clayton, H. G. C. Ernest, A. F. Frater, J. Grey, H. Hadfield, J. H. Jackson, G. F. Mellars; board of benevolence, Messrs. G. B. Osmond, T. Mclndoe and P. Balgarnie; auditor, Mr. P. R. Fraser; institute representatives on the council of the Chamber of Commerce, Mr. P. J. Crump; secretary, Mr. W. J. A. Thomson.
The annual meeting was followed by a dinner, at which a lengthy toast list was honoured and a number of musical items were given.
