ROTORUA NOTES.
Mr. and Mrs. Jeffreys, of Nelson, who have been on a visit to Botorua, have left Auckland en route to Tahiti. Miss W. McHardie has returned from a lioliday spent in Auckland. Miss Clarice Smith, Euera Street, has returned from Gisborne. Mr. and Mrs. J. M Wilson and family, who have been spending the school hqlidays at Geyser Hotel, returned to Bemuera by Monday's express. Miss Hughes, of Christchurch, spent the weekend in Botorua, and has now left for New Plymouth. Miss Campbell has returned to Botorua from a visit to New Plymouth. Miss Lenauze, who has been the guest of Miss U. Boberts, Whakaue Street, has left for Auckland. Miss M. Bay has returned from Hunterville. Miss Anderson has returned to Hotel Arawa from a visit to Auckland. Mrs. Boucher, of Ohinemutu, has returned from a holiday spent at Kohimarama. Miss j, Margaret McKeiizie, Amohau Street, has returned from a visit to Auckland and Whangarei. Mrs. J. D. Davys and Miss V. Davys visited Auckland last week, and have now returned to Botorua. Mr. and Mrs. F. F. Hockly are on a short visit to Whakatane. Mrs. Boss, who has been staying in Botorua for the last six months, has left for her home in Foxton. Mrs. C. T. Clarke is staying at the Grand Hotel, Auckland. Miss N. St. Clair is the guest of Mrs. Ford, Bemuera.
The members of the Devon Street | Church gave a most enjoyable social evening to welcome the Bishop of Waiapu, Bishop Sedgwick and Mrs. Sedgwick, who are spending a fortnight in Rotorua. There was a good attendance of members and their friends, and speeches of welcome were made by the Rev. J. W. Burley, Mr. W. A. Carter and Mr. Robinson, to which the Bishop replied, and at the same time congratulated them on. their progress since his last visit. During the' evening songs were sung by Mrs. J. W. Burley and Miss K. Hall, a recitation by Miss Molly Owens, pianoforte solo by Miss E. Winslade, a monologue by Mr. Hodgson and a pianoforte solo by Miss Minnie Mactier.' A dainty supper was served by the members of the ladies' guild.
There was a large gathering of parishioners and friends of St. Luke's Anglican Church on Wednesday evening, in St. Luke's Parish Hall, when a social evening was held in honour of Bishop Sedgwick and Mrs. Sedgwick. Speeches of welcome were made by Archdeacon F. W. Chatterton and Mr. W. W. P. Hall, to which the Bishop suitably replied. An "Advertisement" competition was won by Mrs. Gilfillan, a pianoforte solo given by Miss M. McKenzie, musical monologues by Mr. Hodgson, vocal duets by the Misses T. Giesen and K. Hall, songs by Mr. Phyl Basham, and a recitation by Miss Gwen Hill. A dainty supper was served and a happy evening concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
