TE AWAMUTU, this day.
A very pleasant function was held in the Commercial Hotel last evening when members and supporters of the Te Awamutu Football Club entertained Detec-tive-Sergeant P. J. Doyle prior to his departure for Auckland. Mr. Doyle has been a supporter of the club for 13 years. Mr. F. Quin, president of the Waikato Rugby Union, handiKl the guest an enlarged photo of last year's team and also a silver kettle to Mrs. Doyle, and wished them every success in the future.
Mr. and Mrs. Doyle were also honoured at a public meeting last evening, Mr. Doyle receiving a gold watch and chain and Mrs. Doyle a silver afternoon tea service.
