PIG MARKETING.
SUCCESSFUL POOLING
HAMILTON, this day
The New Zealand Co-operative Pig Marketing Association reports a closing of its first pools on all pigs received during the months of November and December. Final payments, cheques for which will be posted at the beginning of the week, wiil make a total payout of 4%d per lb for porkers and prime baconers, 3%d for second baconers, and 2%d for choppers At this time the scale price for porkers is sd, and for prime baconers up to 1401b is 4d. The price ruling for choppers is from 2d to 2%d.
In this final payment, the association drawa attention to the fact that no deduction is made from the payout to cover the risk of condemned pigs and that it ia based on the actual dressed weight of the carcase, with no consideration as to a top-weight limit. As soon as the present distribution has been made, immediate attention will be given to the paying of a final bonus on baconers in the second pool. Indications in this direction are good, and suppliers should be well satisfied with the returns. The experience of the association to date indicates .that baconers are a better proposition than porkers during the greater part of the year. Next year the association advises its suppliers to concentrate on supplying baconers, porkers being easilv saleable up to the middle of October and at the tail end of the season. During the balance of the season, suppliers will be Wonerr T t0 flUpply
