UTILISATION Or WHEY.
REPORTS FROM GERMANY.

WELLINGTON, Thursday. At a meeting of the Dairy Research -Management Committee of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research the director, Dr. Marsden, reported that / work was well in hand for the coming season. Advice was received from Dr. F H. McDowall that he had been studying the utilisation of whey in Germany. The indications were that the best results were to be obtained by feeding the whey direct to the pigs. He would continue his investigations both on the Continent and in Britain, and return to New Zealand via America next September after attending the World's Dairy Congress in June.

The director also reported that investigations of the milk and butterfat of individual cows were being carried out, as well as the statistical examination of group herd-testing. Experiments were also being made with certain tvpes of butterfat testing machines, anil with steam sterilisation plants for the cleansing of dairy utensils on farms.
