FOOT-AND-MOUTH DISEASE.
FARMERS' GRAVE FEARS. BAN OX IMPORTATION URGED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. A special warning against further importations of stock as opening the door to the introduction of foot-and-mouth disease is contained in a series of published interviews with prominent farmers of the Waikato.
The ravages of the disease are stressed and it is pointed out that if it once got a foothold in New Zealand it would never be stamped out, and it would cripple the dairy, beef, mutton and wool industries. The holding of a conference of all farming interests with a view to making strong representations to the Government is urged.
