In a balloon which, when deflated, he could pack on his back, Mr. A. L. Stevens recently made a 350-mile overnight flight. So narrow were his quarters that he had to stand erect. A chain being made in Sheffield is to be used to prevent St. Paul's Cathedral dome from saging. It is 14oft long, weighs 30 tone, and each link is just over e w ! dth the chain is lo*in. It is to be imbedded in concrete in the dome. The chain is of stainless steel, and is the biggest ever made of that metal.
