MONEYLENDER 'TAKEN DOWN'
DECEIVED BY YOUNG WOMAN
LOAN OF £30 ON FURNITURE,
(By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.)
WANGANUI, this day,
A young Wanganui woman was short of a little ready cash a week or two ago, so she went to a money-lender and invited him to visit her place, as she required a modest £30 on her furniture and personal effects. She took the money-lender to a furnished house, and had no difficulty in raising a loan. After paying one deposit, she promptly "skipped the Tasman."
The money-lender called at the house for the second deposit, and his surprise may be imagined when he learned that his lady client had no interest in the premises, whose owners had been away on holiday on the occasion of his first visit.
