FIRE-FILLED MINE.
Explosion Results, Entombing Many Workers. RESCUE PASTIES BUSY. (Australian Press Assn.—United Service.) (Received 11 a.m.) VANCOUVER, May 20. A message from Mather (Penn.) states that between 200 and 300 miners were entombed on Saturday by an explosion at the Mather collieries. Three bodies have been recovered and nine were rescued. Sixteen others telephoned their safety but the fate of the remainder in the fire-filled mine is unknown. Rescue operations are being carried out.
