GAMES IN THE PROVINCE.
WHANGAREI. The principal senior Rugby fixture attracted a good attendance at Kensington Park, where Old Boys beat City by 11 to 3 after a hard and evenly contested game. Before half-time, L. O'Brien scored for Old Boys. J. Webber goaled. Waterman gained a try for City. A. Maekay increased Old Boys' lead by a try. The final score wap a penalty try to O'Brien for obstruction. Sheriff failed to convert. In a game not nearly up to senior standard, Maungatapu lost to Hikurangi by 12 points to nil. Penalty goals were kicked by D. Cunningham and Griffen, while E. Cunningham and T. Meyer scored tries. Juniors. —Horahora 11, beat Onerahi 3; Portland 18, beat City 0. Third Grade.—High School nil, drew with Old Boys nil. PUKEKOHE. Seniors. — White Star 3 (a try by Jenkins) drew with Power Board 3 (a try by Bishop). Ramblers 6 beat Patumahoe 0. Juniors: Ramblers 21 beat Patumahoe 3. Third grade: Ramblers 8 beat High School 0; Wesley College defaulted to Patumahoe. THAMES Ramblers were successful In their match with Physical Training by 9<o 3. For the winning team Savage and McCollum scored tries, and Savage kicked a penalty goal. W. Pollock scored for Physical Training. In the other senior match. City beat College Old Boys by 9to 6. For City, Dufty potted a goal and Lomas scored a try, converted by Moran. For College Old Boys, Buchanan scored a try and Mortimer kicked a penalty goal. In the second grade. College Old Boys and Ramblers met at Wharepoa, the former winning by 6 points to 3. Physical Training went to Tarua, and beat the Turua team by 6 to 0. The fourth grade match between Physical Training and High School resulted in the former winning by 19 to 11. PAEROA. Seniors.—West 2S beat 3ast 3. For the winners tries were scored by McQuarters (2), Swann, Verran, Poland, Southby and Knight (one each). Swann and Taylor each converted one try. E. Moore kicked a penalty goal for East. Suburbs (Hikutaia) 8 defeated Pirates niL Third grade: West 30 beat Bast 0. WATHI. _ 14, beat Watfcino 0; Katikatl 16, 'beat Athletic 9. Juniors.—Athletics 8, beat Mataura 0. tbTfuke. Pongakawa 23, beat Rangluru 5. MORRIN SVTLLE. By defeating Matamata on Saturday, the Patetere senior team took a lead of two points in the championships leaving Matamata adn Walton level in second place. CAMBRIDGE. Hautapui seniors 16 (three tries two converted, and a penalty goal); beat Tawhare 8 (two tries, one converted). Kalpakl 3 (one try) played a drawn game with Leamington 3 (penalty goal). ° ra ae —Hamilton Technical 8, beat City 6. WAIPA. Thi first round of the senior competition was concluded on Saturday afternoon. On Albert Park Te Awamutu beat Huimai by 43 points to 3. At Pirongia United and Karamu played a drawn game—3 points each. Rovers visited Waikeria, and were defeated by the Institute team by 35 points to 8. The position of the teams at the end of the round is as follows:—Rovers 7, Te Awamutu 6, United 4, Karamu 3, Hulmal 0. In the. junior competition Rovers defeated Mangahoe by 8 points to 5. Te Awamutu were defeated by Korakonui B by 3 points to 0. TAURANGA. - Seniors.—Cadets 13, beat Te . Puke United IJS; Ranginul 12 beat Rancataua 0. Juniors.—Athletics 23, beat School 3; Cadets 14, beat Ranginul 0. OPOTIKI. Fine weather . favoured the Rugby matches, but the grounds were very heavy and muddy as the result of heaVy rains, and they considerably slowed up play. Results: < Senior*. —City 12, beat Triple Links 8. This was a great game, Triple Links having the upper hand in the first half, and City were lucky to win. Country and Tehula drew, there being no score. The results of the first round are:—City 6 points, Country 3 points, Triple Links 2 points, Tehula 1 point.
