HYDE PARK CASE.
A COMPREHENSIVE INQUIRY

LONDON, May 18.
Sir William Joynson-Hicks, , Home Secretary, in a statement before the tribunal, said he proposes to make inquiries on Tuesday into specific charges mentioned in the House of Commons yesterday concerning the treatment by the police of Miss Savage in connection with the Hyde Park case. When it was finished he would be prepared to assent to a larger investigation into the whole of police methods regarding witnesses. He had arranged, in connection therewith, to meet Labour leaders for discussion before making definite proposals in the House of Commons. This larger investigation would be carried out by a different body from that appointed on May 5. The inquiry would be public.
