OFFICIAL OPENINGS.

PRIME MINISTER'S TOUR. VISITS KOPU AND KIRIKOPUNI. The Prime Minister (Right Hon. J. G. Coates) will leave Wellington to-inor-row evening, and will join a special train at Frankton at 7 a.m. on Friday. He is due at Thames at 9 o'clock, and later in the day he will perform tlie opening ceremony of the Hauraki Bridge at Kopu. The expeditious manner in which the work has progressed by the Public Works Department has gained the appreciation of the district residents and the local bodies, to whom the new bridge will be a long-awaited boon. It was at first thought that the bridge would be completed in three years, but by the use of modern machinery the time hag been reduced by one-half. The first pile was driven by the Minister of Public Works (Mr. K. S. Williams) in October, 1926. After receiving deputations the Prime Minister will come on to Auckland, where he will possibly spend the weekend. On Monday he will proceed to Dargaville for the purpose of officially opening the Kirikopuni section of the Waiotira-Dargaville railway.
