Alfred Buckland and Sons, Ltd., re-port:—To-day at our weekly Westfield fat stock market our supply of fat cattle numbered 389 comprising 233 steers, 156 cows and heifers, as against 341 at last week's sale. Ox beef generally was of excellent quality and included several consignments of extra prime cattle. There were also many pens of fine cows and heifers. Competition was keen and last week's advance was fully sustained. Extra choice ox sold to 37/ per 1001b; choice and prime ox, 35/ to 36/6; ordinary and plain ox, 30/ to 34/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 26/ to 30/; ordinary cow beef, 21/ to 25/; extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £15 10/ to £16 5/; heavy prime steers, £14 to £15 7/6; lighter prime steers, £12 10/ to £13 17/6; light prime steer, £10 10/ to £12 7/6; unfinished and small, £8 10/ to £10 7/6; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £10 to £12 5/; heavy prime young cows and heifers, £8 10/ to £9 17/6; lighter, £6 10/ to £8 7/6; other cows, £4 10/ to £6 7/6.
