HIT WITH A BRICK.
ACCIDENT TO WORKMAN. While working on the demolition of a two-storeyed house in Eden Street, near the Supreme Court, to-day, a married man yarned Jock Fagan, aged 36, was struck on the head by a brick which fell from a chimney. Mr. Fagan, who lives at 18, Columbia Rd., Edendale, was taken to the Auckland Hospital by the St. John Ambulance. The precise nature and extent of his injuries were not known. He is to undergo an X-ray examination this' afternoon. THIEVES IK NEWMARKET. STOCK WORTH £20 STOLEN. DISTURBED WHILE AT WORK. Last night thieves broke #lito the tobacconist's shop of Mr. R. Martin, situated in Broadway, Newmarket, immediately opposite Remuera Road, and stole stock comprising tobacco, cigarettes, razors and pouches worth £20. The intruders gainsd entrance by forcing the door at the rear of the shop. Several shelves in the shop were cleared of the contents, while from a glass cabinet on the counter a n amber of valuable tobacco pouches wera taken. It is thought that the thieves were disturbed while at work.
