FALLING OFF IN RECEIPTS. A falling off in receipts is noted in the financial statement presented to the Auckland Harbour Board this afternoon. During April recctpts from revenue, in respect of the Waitemata Harbour, amounted to £33,272 —a decrease of £6312 on the figures for the corresponding month in 1927. The figures for seven months ending April 30 show a decrease of £8418. The total receipts from Waitemata Harbour for the seven months period were £222,033. The total receipts for April, were made up from the Admiralty subsidy, rents, goods wharfage, vehicular tolls, shipping charges, cra-nc dues, dock and slipway.dues, storage on poods, lighting wharves, water supply and miscellaneous items. Manukau Harbdur receipts for April totalled £06.5, a decrease of £136, and for the seven months £4089, a decrease of £200. The receipts for the seven months were, however, £3876 in excess of the proportion of the estimate for the year. Large merchant shipping in April showed a decrease of one vessel. There was an increase of seven in the local coastal vessels returns. Two 3-fon electric portal jib cranes for the Western wharf are to be admitted into New Zealand free of dutv, according to a letter from the Comptroller of Customs.
