UNWELCOME ADMIRATION.

YOUNG. MAN AND A GIRL.

CONVICTION RECORDED,

When delivering circulars about 11 o'clock one morning recently a man of 21 years of age met a girl of 16. He gave heT a. circular and said, "You have nice legs, Miss." The girl did not give him any encouragement and walked on without speaking. Later he met the same girl as she was going into her home and repeated his remark and grasped her about the waist. The girl disengaged herself and rnshed indoors. The man was charged • in the Police Court to-day with common assault. "He recognises that he has been a silly young fool>" said Detective Walsh.

Counsel for the defence said the youth was the son of respectable parents, both of whom were much distressed. He had never been in trouble in any circumstances before.* In these enlightened days there was no fault in admiring a nice pair of legs, but he should 'have kept the remark to himself. The accused was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon, and his name was suppressed.
