INQUEST AT ONEHUNGA.
An inquiry into the circumstances attending the death of Mr. John James Hadwin, which occurred yesterday morning at Onehunga, was held this morning by Mr. D. A. Sutherland, district coroner., Walter George Hadwin, a son of the deceased, said his father left home yesterday morning before 7 o'clock -to catch the tram. The deceased was a tailor by trade and worked in Ponsonby. He had been in indifferent health for some weeks, and intended to see a doctor yesterday in Auckland. He had found it difficult to make any great exertion, but he never complained. About 16 months ago the deceased underwent an operation, which had been quite successful, with consequent improvement in his health until recently, when witness noticed that he was failing and advised him to see a doctor.
Edmond F. Shellback, seaman, saw the deceased suddenly drop * down on the pavement and he assisted to carry him into a shop.
Dr. W. Howard Thomas stated that the cause of death was heart failure, due to chronic valvular disease.
I A verdict was returned in accordance with the medical evidence. <
