COOKS WARNED.
JUDGE AND DIRECT ACTION.
MELBOURNE, April 20. Chief Justice Dethridge, of the Arbitration Court, today warned the members of the Marine Cooks' Union that if they continued to resort to direct action he would consider suspending or setting aside their award. He had no doubt that the union was adopting direct action tactics in holding up the Ulimaroa and other vessels recently. His Honor agreed to provide for the insertion of a clause in the award prohibiting the members of the union from participating in strikes. The owners' application to set aside the award was adjourned for one week.
