GENERAL SYNOD.
Apart from a short session held in urgency two or three years ago, it is eighteen years since General Synod met in Wellington (writes the "Church Chronicle.") Those who can recall the occasion will be sensitive of many changes in its personnel. The Archbishop of New Zealand and Archbishop Julius alone remain to us of the bishops of that day. Four of their colleagues have been called to their rest, and Bishop Wilson, then of Melanesia, is now working in one of the largest dioceses of Western Australia. Of the clerical representatives of eighteen years ago, three are raised to the episcopate, namely, the Bishops of Waiapu and Dunedin and our own diocesan. As one takes a hurried glance over the names of the eynodsinen, one realises how many changes have taken place in the province during the past twenty years. In 1910 we could not refrain from looking back upon the years that are past, when we saw the venerable figures of the then Primate, and Bishops Leonard Williams and Charles Mules. This year our outlook will be upon the years that are to come, especially when we recognise representatives from two Dioceses which were then unknown to our province, viz., Polynesia and Waikato. Moreover the business of the coming Synod appears, from reports which have reached us, to have farreaching effects upon the development and extension of the Church of God in this country.
