(By Telegraph.—Special to "Star. 0 CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The Rugby season was opened in Christchurch and Dunedin this afternoon. Linwood 28, beat Zingar. (Dunedin) 0. Christchurch Old Boys' 20, beat Timai u Old Boys' 11. In Dunedin at the Carisbrook ground, Zingari (Dunedin) beat Star (Invercargill). 20 to 14. Alhambra (Dunedin), beat Merivale (Christchurch), 19 to 8. OTOROHANGA SUB-UNION The first annual meeting of fh» Otorohangn Rugby Football Sub-union took place on Wednesday night, delegates from Otorohanga, Athletic, Honikiwi, Kio Kio, and Otewa Clubs and the Referees' Association being present. The Hangatiki Club wrote requesting to be affiliated, and tnis was agreed to, subject to the boundaries between Otorohanga and Maniapoto Unions being revised.
The report showed that both senior and junior rep. teams hnd been very successful last season, the seniors winning four out of five matches. The senior competition was won by Otewa and the Junior by Huia. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £31 16/.
The following officers were elected : Patron, Mr. J. C. Rolleston, M.P.: president, Mr. A. B. R. Mossnian vice-preslnents, Messrs. G. H. Boles, R. V. Park. Te Ngoi Maika: management committee, Messrs. J. H. Saunderson. H. Miller. C. Bowler, J. Sing, G. H. Boles : secretary and treasurer. Mr. C. W. Harte: delegates to the King Country Nnion, Messrs. Closey, Skinner and Bowlef.
The opening date was fixed for April 21. and a seven-a-side tourney will inaugurate the season.
