MIXED BATHING SHOCK.

BAN ON "TRANSPARENT" COSTUMES.

"Transparent"* bathing costumes are referred to in a circular letter sent from the English Amateur Swimming Association to its branches, and in consequence many local authorities are to exercise a sharper censorship over the swimming costumes used nt public baths. These costumes, says the letter, are being increasingly worn, but the executive have deeided that they cannot be tolerated in competitions held under their laws, and they suggest that local baths committees should prohibit these costumes, particularly on mixed bathing days.
