RICCARTON JOTTINGS.
CHIDE MOVES ALONG. MARTARMA NOT RACING TILL SPRING. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday.
T. H. Gillett will leave to-night for the -North with Satrap and Money Order, who will be racing at the Auckland Racing Club's meeting at Easter. Both these horses are in the best of condition, and they should do well on the trip. T. Green will ride Satrap in the Great Northern St. Leger, and he will do other riding on the Riccarton horses whenever possible.
The two-year-old Chide added to the list of his admirers by the manner in which he shaped oyer six furlongs this morning. He showed great brilliancy from the start, and he was going on strongly at the end of a gallop in which fast time was registered. Chide appears to have improved a lot since he com tested the Middle Park Plate, and he will assist in making the Champagne Stakes a very interesting race. Starflight hit out in good style in a mile and a-quarter gallop this morning. He shapes like developing into a useful stayer and he may race prominently in the Hororata Cup on Saturday. Nincompoop is moving along freely in sprinting tasks at present. His recent short rest appears to have freshened him up a lot, and he looks in his best form again. The three-year-old Martarma, who is at present enjoying a holiday, will probably be taken in hand asrain after Easter, when F. Christmas will make a start to tret him ready for spring engagements. Economist and Kenmore, who have developed lameness lately, have been thrown out of work, and it is doubtful if they will be persevered with.
