MASTERTON AUTUMN OPENING. MODERN LIFTS HIGHWEIGHT. NOVICE STAKES TO SKY BIRD. FLYING HERO SMARTEST YOUNGSTER. (By Telegraph.—special to "Star.") MASTERTON, this day. The Masterton Racing Club's autumn meeting opened to-day at Opaki and will be concluded to-morrow. The track is in fine order. There is quite a good attendance.

In the early stages of the Highweight Red Fuchsia, Modern and Sir Moment were prominent. Modern was always handy and came away in the straight to win comfortablv.

Sky Bird drew out in the straight to beat Molong by a length in the Novice Stakes.

Tatrina was fourth in the Novice Stakes, Tripaway filling a similar position in the Juvenile. Results:— HIGHWEIGHT HANDICAP of 130sovs. One mile and a-quarter.
